3 ways to Spark Your Job Search Using QR Codes

  1. QR-codes are a quick, new, and easy way of allowing future employers to view more of your work data through 2 dimensional bar codes.
  2. QR-codes can take the employers to my ‘About Me’ page on my blog. This is a great opportunity to have a better chance at getting future employers to go into your blog and view more of your work, projects, and job experience.
  3. Adding a QR-code on your business card will encourage future employers, or other future colleagues to truly contact you. This can direct them to your ‘Contact Me’ page on your blog as well.
  4. When putting out ads on a newspaper, another neat way of making yourself noticed among all the other ads is by adding a QR-code to your ad.
  5. QR-codes can send employers to a ‘Hire Me’ page on your blog as well as giving them the chance to view recent blog posts that can convince them of hiring you.

BYU-Idaho I-Comm

  1. The BYU-Idaho I-Comm student media is a student run advertising and public relations agency at BYU-Idaho that is run through their Communication Department.
  2. I-Comm allows students to get hands on experience in advertising, video production, broadcasting, and PR work.
  3. The BYU-I I-comm reaches out to Southeastern Idaho and is moving throughout the United States. This website has allowed me to see what I, as a Comm major, should be revolved around.
  4. As a PR student, it was very informative to see that the I-Comm webpage provides a way for viewers to visit their other social networks.
  5. It is very important as a Comm student to write well as well. Although some of the news updates are through video, someone needs to be able to write out the article professionally.

  1. This website provides a very easy and clear way to navigate through the page.
  2. It was interesting to notice that the website allows the viewer to see the constant changes this company makes about their logo. It helps one understand the importance of always updating and keeping up to date a website.
  3. This website gives opportunities for the viewer to follow and look into other of their social networks.
  4. Ap.org is a news company that gives news updates online. This teaches me that online media and using websites to update news is very important now of days.
  5. It was also very impressive to see that they allow webpage visitors to give them feedback and ask questions. It’s very important to allow people to update on how the website could be run better.

Job Interview Questions:

 

  1. It is very important to know some research about the company you are applying for.
  2. When you are asked about experience in the work field, be honest. Try to remember experiences you have had concerning the job you are applying for. This is also why it is very important to gain some experience in what you are trying to pursue.
  3. It is also important to have good things to say about yourself. Showcase your work and give yourself some credit. As well as telling them that you want to continue growing.
  4. It is very important to ask the interviewer questions as well. This shows them that you are willing to understand more about their needs.
  5. Let the interviewer know that you are willing to make any improvement they see fit.

  1. The PRSSA is an organization for student wanting to go into public relations and communication.
  2. The PRSSA allows students to get hands on work in the field they wish to work in.
  3. It is very important to join such organizations to enhance your networking.
  4. PRSSA allows one to visit other companies and organizations that deal a lot with public relations work.
  5. Public opinion is very vital in public relations work.

American Advertising Federation:

  1. The American Advertising Federation promotes the continuation of advertising throughout organizations.
  2. This federation educated members on new advances in technology and design in advertising.
  3. It is very easy to join this organization.
  4. There are many branches and some are local so it’s important to find opportunities to join organizations locally.
  5. It also a possibility to begin a chapter for this organization here at BYU-Idaho.

  1. There are many classes here at BYU-Idaho that allow you to learn more about the Communication field.
  2. When you plan out your academic plan, you are able to see how long it will take you to finish as well as the amount of time you have at school to expand your knowledge and gets hand on work.
  3. Planning an internship during an off-track can benefit your academic plan.
  4. It is best to start planning out your college career earlier rather than later.
  5. Planning for practicums allow you to have hands on experience in what one wishes to pursue.

  1. Something that I really enjoyed about this website was how colorful it appeared. It seemed very trendy and up to date.
  2. The “Time and Date” logo is very creative and is appealing to the eye.
  3. It is very easy to navigate through this website.
  4. The icons that are used along the website are also very thought out and creative.
  5. Each tab has its own color that represents it, I really enjoyed that design. Colors are very crucial in making good impressions.

  1. On this website, one can be informed of summits and other opportunities that are given to the College of Business and Communication.
  2. On the left side of the screen, there is a tab that is labeled, ‘Societies’. On this tab one can be informed of different organizations here at BYU-Idaho.
  3. As a Public Relations student, it was very informative to find that there is an organization called PRSSA here at BYU-Idaho.
  4. Information, numbers, emails, and meeting places are provided in this tab concerning many communication societies.
  5. If one is unaware of who their mentor is, you can find out on http://www.byui.edu/business-communication and get started on reaching out to them and beginning the path to your career in Communication.
